Ajman is situated on the coast of the Arabian Gulf,
extending over a distance of 16 km long, between Umm
Al Quwain and Sharjah. This is a smallest of the
seven emirates with an area of just 260 sq km and
population of around 120,000 inhabitants.
It comprises the Ruler's office, companies, banks
and commercial markets. The Port of Ajman is located
along a natural creek (Khor) which penetrates the
town. The two major agricultural and farming areas
in the emirate are Masfout, located 110 km to the
south east of the emirate, and Manama, located 60 km
to the east.
Ajman has a pleasant blend of the old and the new,
the simple and the sophisticated. It’s an ideal
place to get away from the busy city life and enjoy
the sweet serenity of sunny beaches.
Living in a marine environment, dhow building using
traditional tools and manual skills and fishing
continue to thrive as important activities in Ajman.
In the meanwhile its dynamic leaders, H.H. Sheikh
Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Ruler of Ajman, and
H.E. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince
of Ajman, have set into motion plans that look to
make the emirate a significant economic player in
the Gulf region. One of the latest projects is a
gigantic tourism and entertainment city with luxury
facilities, including a hotel, furnished apartments,
shopping centers and parks.
